"LITERARY STUFFING" THANKSGIVING INTERVIEW SERIES WITH AUTHOR, MAGNOLIA BELLE
Thank you again for donating a book for the "Literary Stuffings" giveaway. Can you tell us more about the book you donated?

I donated two books. The first, "Tascosa," is set in what is now a ghost town in north Texas. It tells of a young woman who moves west alone and how she deals with life in the rough, lawless town.

The second book, "T'on Ma," is the first in a 3-novel series set in north Texas and southern Oklahoma. It deals with the Kiowa and the homesteaders beginning in 1850 and ending in 1871. One homesteader family, the Coopers, have a daughter, Lana, who falls in love with a Kiowa warrior but, from family pressures, marries an Army lieutenant. That decision costs them all.

This time of year is usually a warm and happy time with friends and family, how do you usually spend Thanksgiving every year?

We invite folks to our home for the weekend.

Can you remember one of your most happiest Thanksgivings?

Most memorable... I'd just gotten engaged and wanted my fiancé to meet my grandparents. My grandmother had just broken her arm, so I got to fix the Thanksgiving feast all by myself. Whew!

What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

The company.

Some families have traditions they do every year, does your family have a tradition that goes along with Thanksgiving?

We make a pact NOT to go shopping the next day.

Food is always one of the biggest things about this time of year, do you have a favorite desert or even a recipe you'd like to share with us?

Few ingredients, but an elegant cookie for the holidays.

Sand Tarts

1 c. butter at room temperature, ¾ c. powdered sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla, 2 c. sifted flour, 1 c. finely chopped pecans

Cream butter, add sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour, one cup at a time. (Be careful. Too much flour will ruin these.) Stir in pecans. Form small rolls 1½” long and shape into half moon. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 300°F for 20 minutes. While still hot, roll in powdered sugar. Makes 3 dozen.

Note: These can be made ahead and frozen.

There are so many ways to cook a turkey, does your family have a special way of getting the big bird ready, perhaps a special ingredient or stuffing?

My husband always smokes a turkey. It is sooo delicious and juicy. When he brings it in, the house instantly smells wonderful!

After eating all that food and settling in for the evening what do you do with the time that's left before bed?

We either play board games or watch movies.

Is there any other information you'd care to share with us about your books that are out now or any upcoming novels?

I have an upcoming novel that I'm finishing. "Lady Gwendolyn" is set in 11th century England and Scotland and tells of a maid to Lady Gwendolyn who takes her identity in order to save her life.
