INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR, LUCIANNE RIVERS OF THE "CALDWELL SISTER" SERIES FROM ENTANGLED PUBLISHING

Hello Lucianne, thank you so much for doing this interview. My firstquestion is of course about your series and what prompted you to beginwriting?

After I gave birth to my daughter almost two years ago, something came on fire inside of me. I needed desperately to create. It found a vent in the form of writing.

So far you have three books in the Caldwell Sister's series, are there plans for more and when can we expect the next one to come out?

I'm working on a prequel to a novel called VICE & VALKYRIES, which is like a Sin City/Thor-type paranormal romance.

After reading your biography on your website I discovered that you have had a full life, can you tell us more about your stint as a stage and screen actress and perhaps tell us about some of the productions you were in?

In Ireland I was one of ten people to get into the Trinity College Dublin, Bachelor in Acting Studies, at the Samuel Beckett Center. It had been a goal of mine since the age of nine. A year in to the three year program, I left. I'd realized after fifteen years of pursuing acting as a career, it just wasn't for me. Prior to that I'd completed a Diploma in Speech & Drama Studies at third level, been on national television in two teen programs called Minors With a Mission and Echo Island, and later in a four-part drama called, Pure Mule.

You seem to be a woman that takes fitness seriously. Is there a reason you tackle a fitness regime with such enthusiasm and what difference has this made in your life?

I counted my hours at my gym recently. On average, I spend nine to ten hours a week at my gym doing Crossfit, Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing. Sometimes it's more. Without this level of physical exercise, I would become quite depressed. For some reason, my body type demands this level of exertion or my mood suffers. I am challenged by this training, but more than that, it's some of the best fun I've ever had.

Are there any plans in the future to write in other genres or is the Romance genre the one you intend to stick with?

I will probably only ever write romance books, however, I also write screenplays that are straight thrillers.

This is an off-base question but I was wondering if after being born and raised in Ireland and then moving to New Mexico if you still have an Irish accent and if so do you get a lot of compliments on it there?

I do still have an Irish accent, but it's becoming less pronounced. Men love it.

Have you given any thought in continuing to work in television or on stage?

I have an agent in Albuquerque and since I've moved here, I've been in some low budget productions and in a History Channel documentary. The highlight, however, was auditioning for the last Terminator movie and having to speak in the Irish language. I saw the movie. They gave the part to Japanese person...

You manage a non-profit in New Mexico State, can you tell us more about that and your endeavors?

It's the leadership and civics program of a local economic development association. I get to work with twenty-five participants each year who come from various sectors and organizations in the community. We have speakers come in to discuss civic issues with them and also work with them on their own personal leadership development. It's a lot of fun. I know a ton of people through my job. I'm a lucky woman.

What can you tell us about your extended family and their thoughts on your career?

My parents are fabulous. They are actually here visiting from Ireland as I type this. Having their only daughter move thousands of miles away must have been difficult for them, but they love to visit Santa Fe, and will probably make it out her for a couple of months a year as they retire. My daughter, Lily, is almost two years old and on the verge of talking. She blows me away with her tiny, intelligent brain.

Do you have any advice for other aspiring authors that might benefit them?

I found the savvyauthors.com site invaluable in terms of online training for craft and pitching.

Thanks for having me!

Lucy
