_"GOOD TIDINGS & TRIMMINGS" CHRISTMAS INTERVIEW WITH
ALESHA ESCOBAR

Thank you again for donating a book for our 1st annual "Good Tidings & Trimmings" e-book Giveaway! What book or books did you donate, tell us more about them.

The Tower’s Alchemist is the first book of my Gray Tower Trilogy. It’s an urban fantasy story set in an alternate WWII where the Nazis unleash occult powers in order to win the war, and the Allies are forced to employ wizards to stand in their way. My protagonist, Isabella George, is a wizard who’s spying for the British but is torn between her duties and her desire to find love and live a normal life. Things get complicated when on her last mission someone betrays her, and a deadly warlock stalks her in order to steal her powers. As if that weren’t enough, she finds that she can’t even turn to the wizards who trained her--they have a sinister agenda of their own.

What is your favorite thing about the holiday season and what does Christmas mean to you?

My favorite thing about the holidays is the cooking. My mother and grandmother would bring us all together with their delicious meals. It will be especially hard this year because my mother recently passed away, but now more than ever I appreciate the bond a family can have.

What is your favorite holiday memory?

Sneaking into the living room at the slightest hint of daylight on Christmas morning with my brother and sister. We’d go straight for the presents with excited smiles on our faces.

Do you still have any of the toys you got when you were a kid?

No, but I wish I did. I’m an 80’s kid, so some of the toys I grew up with are now collector’s items!

How do you celebrate the holidays?

With family, with gratitude, and a spirit of generosity.

Do you still believe in Santa Claus?

I believe in the spirit of Santa Claus. Does that count? My mother always taught me to give, whether it is my time or resources.

A lot of people get that warm, fuzzy feeling around this time of year, are you one of those people?

I do--I’m such a sucker for bright lights, holiday music, and precious smiles.

Have you ever gone caroling or wanted to?

I think I have, as part of a prank. Why am I admitting this?

If you had a choice of the perfect weather for Christmas would it be cold and snowy, or warm and sunny?

I’m a native Californian, so I’ve always fantasized of a snowy Christmas. Of course whether or not I could survive one is a different story--I love my sunshine.
