Review: Lately dystopian novels have become extremely popular. With the fast rise of such titles as "Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins there has been an influx of young adult novelists trying their hand at creating post-apocalyptic worlds where the young truly become our future. Cameron Stracher has definitely created on such world and his heroes and heroines are unforgettable.

This novel deals with a very real possibility that is at once scary and compelling. The structure of the land has changed, there is a stark dryness everywhere you look and water is not just scarce, but doled out in safely guarded increments. People are getting sick, and dying, others are disappearing and no one is safe. This is the world of Vera and her brother Will. When they meet a young man close to their age named Kai, they find his strange and it is hard for them to understand let along believe his flippancy where water is concerned. He seems completely uncaring that the liquid that gives life is hard to find. They share a fleeting friendship with him and when Kai disappears they decide they must find him. Embarking on a wild and dangerous adventure they learn a lot more than they bargained for.

I loved this book and hope it is destined to become a series. This book reminded me much of "Hunger Games" but of course with its own quality and uniqueness. Stracher is definitely a writer well on his way to greatness, this is yet another dystopian success. I highly recommend "The Water Wars" it will leave you thirsting for more!

_"LITERARY STUFFING" THANKSGIVING INTERVIEW SERIES WITH AUTHOR, LYNN HUBBARD

Thank you again for donating a book for the "Literary Stuffings" giveaway. Can you tell us more about the book you donated?

I am donating copies of my favorite book "Run into the Wind". It is a historical romance set in 1885. My main Character is Sabrina. A head strong woman who has a passion for life. She thinks she is perfectly content until she meets Brock. Then she realizes that maybe something is missing.

This time of year is usually a warm and happy time with friends and family, how do you usually spend Thanksgiving every year?

I usually stay home for Thanksgiving, but this year I'm heading to Florida to spend it with Harry Potter. Oh yeah, and my sisters family.

Can you remember one of your most happiest Thanksgivings?

Would have to be as a child. I come from a large family and I have over 50 first cousins. We would have dinner at my Grandma Hubbard's house and everyone would come no matter how far away they lived.

What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

Well I write historical romance, so I always think back to the pilgrims. How difficult their lives were and how thankful they were for the little things. Like food on the table. And perhaps hooking up with a hot Indian. I also love watching the parades. I think the giant balloons are amazing!

Some families have traditions they do every year, does your family have a tradition that goes along with Thanksgiving?

SHOPPING! I have no qualms about getting up at 3am or even hitting the thanksgiving day sales with my family.

Food is always one of the biggest things about this time of year, do you have a favorite desert or even a recipe you'd like to share with us?

I don't normally cook. I like simple things like fresh bakes cookies or rice pudding. Or fresh baked cookies dipped in rice pudding.

There are so many ways to cook a turkey, does your family have a special way of getting the big bird ready, perhaps a special ingredient or stuffing?

Lol! It was my mom's turn to make the stuffing last year and she completely forgot about it! But my favorite stuffing is baked. You put the stuffing in a pan and bake it til it's golden brown and cut it into squares. yum

After eating all that food and settling in for the evening what do you do with the time that's left before bed?

We like to play games, yathzee is great for a large group or pictionary.

Is there any other information you'd care to share with us about your books that are out now or any upcoming novels?

I just released a short story for Christmas called "A Christmas Crossing" it's available on Amazon. . My latest book release is Chase the Moon. It contains all the characters from Run into the Wind. If you have time stop by my website and check them out! www.lynnhubbard.com

Raven Finch: The Curse of the Dead Woods

Finding out he’s half warlock, half mortal, and he’s the only one who can help her when people start to disappear, and she fears she may be the next victim. Can this unlikely pair join forces against Agatha, the High Witch, who took Raven when she was born and has enslaved her at Castle Rock? Why are there similarities between Ethan and Raven, and why is it that all the peculiar things that are happening has her believing his accusations? Could it be that all the mixing of potions and reading of spell books to help Ethan is turning her into a witch? Or is her mind just playing tricks on her?

This time of year is usually a warm and happy time with friends and family; how do you usually spend Thanksgiving every year?

Thanksgiving is all about family to me. This year we are expecting only a “skeleton crew”, as a few of our family have recently moved back up north…brrr! Needless to say, they will have snow for the holiday, but we can go to the beach if we want to! But I’m happy that my dad will be with us this year.

Can you remember one of your most happiest Thanksgivings?

Thanksgiving was such a special time for our family when I was growing up. We would have family over, and my mother would get up really early and spend all day in the kitchen cooking. That woman could cook a 25 pound turkey, make homemade (from scratch) mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade pies, fudge, cookies, and still have time to make the Chex party mix…to me, Thanksgiving just isn’t Thanksgiving without the Chex party mix! I miss those days with my entire family since my mother is now gone, and my 7 siblings are spread throughout the US. But mostly I miss fighting with my siblings over who would get the wishbone (my wishes always involved a big Christmas gift)!

What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

I would have to say my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is eating with reckless abandon!

Some families have traditions they do every year, does your family have a tradition that goes along with Thanksgiving?

The Thanksgiving Parade is a must, but the traditions have evolved over the years. In recent years since my mother’s passing, I make it a point to make her Norwegian Christmas cookies at Thanksgiving AND Christmas. But one tradition will ALWAYS remain in my house…listening to Christmas music. I always start playing the Christmas tunes while I’m making the Thanksgiving dinner…just wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without it.

Food is always one of the biggest things about this time of year; do you have a favorite desert or even a recipe you'd like to share with us?

As much as I’d like to, I can’t share the cookie recipe with you because that has to stay with family, but I will be more than happy to share my roasted chestnut stuffing recipe with you…you will love it.

I have it listed on my blog for those who are interested. Follow the link below and ENJOY!

http://livingstonhallpublishers.blogspot.com/

There are so many ways to cook a turkey; does your family have a special way of getting the big bird ready, perhaps a special ingredient or stuffing?

See previous answer…but make note that I have substituted pecans for the roasted chestnuts, and even added dried cranberries to this recipe as an experiment, and it was equally delicious.

After eating all that food and settling in for the evening what do you do with the time that's left before bed?

I immediately start decorating for Christmas!

Is there any other information you'd care to share with us about your books that are out now or any upcoming novels?

I do have the first book of a new historical romance series finished. So far, I have only 4 books planned for this series, but if subsequent books are as popular as the first one, I may write more. For now, the first four books in the WANTED: Dead or Alive series are:

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of this exciting giveaway. I hope this season finds all of you in good health and good spirits.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

HOLIDAY INTERVIEW WITH WC JAMESON
Tell us about Treasure Hunter: Caches, Curses, and Deadly Confrontations.

The truth is, I resisted writing this book for years for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that anonymity is a significant advantage to the professional treasure hunter. Why? Most of what we do is illegal.

Most of my adult life has been spent as a professional treasure hunter in this country and in Mexico. I have had some great finds, a lot of disappointments, but always an adventure. Several of the most interesting and dangerous accounts are included in this book.

My wife spent years encouraging me to write down a few of these adventures and recoveries, believing people would be fascinated by them. Since most of my partners are dead and I have only a few ongoing projects in the works, I decided I could pull this off. I have been surprised with how well the book is doing, and there have already been calls for a sequel.

What is your favorite thing about the holiday season and what does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas is traditionally a time for family gatherings. Since our families are scattered across the country and have busy lives of their own, it is seldom possible to gather anymore. Last year my wife and I went camping, enjoyed every minute of it, and intend to look into doing more of that.

I look at the season as a time to slow down and evaluate the year and life in general, and make plans for the coming year.

What is your favorite holiday memory?

I have several. One is Christmas with my mother when I was a child. I was raised by a single mom and we didn’t have any money, but she always made Christmas special. When I had children of my own, I was determined to make Christmas as special for them as it was to me when I was a kid.

Do you still have any of the toys you got when you were a kid?

No. I passed them along to my own children or to other kids who didn’t have anything.

How do you celebrate the holidays?

The older I get, the more I appreciate the opportunity to slow down and relax. Holidays encourage that sort of thing.

Do you still believe in Santa Claus?

Of course.

A lot of people get that warm, fuzzy feeling this time of year. Are you one of those people.

Kind of. I cherish the thoughts and memories of Christmases when I was a kid as well as the Christmases I enjoyed with my own children.

Have you ever gone caroling?

Yes, I have. Music and singing are an important element of the Christmas holidays. I don’t seem to have the opportunities to do much of that in recent years.

If you had a choice of the perfect weather for Christmas would it be cold and snowy or warm and sunny?

Warm and sunny. I grew up in West Texas where it is warm and sunny all the time. I prefer that to cold and snowy.

"TREASURE HUNTER" SYNOPSIS:
Treasure Hunter: Caches, Curses & Deadly Confrontations

The only memoir of prolific author WC Jameson

“What WC Jameson has done in real life makes National Treasure pale in comparison. It is the stuff that dreams--and nightmares and sometimes fortunes--are made of. WC's objective may be gold or silver, but what he's really after is adventure. This book is destined to become a classic not only among treasure hunters, but for anyone who is determined to live life to the fullest. When I grow up, I want to be just like WC Jameson."

-Max McCoy, bestselling author of Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Sphinx

SYNOPSIS
"There are not many left, we dreamers and wanderers...We are a breed of men addicted to danger, adventure, and the quest." Thus begins WC Jameson's account of one intrepid man's efforts to find the lost treasures of North America and beyond. Jameson and his partners piece together centuries-old histories through documents, maps, and stories passed down from one generation to the next, facing life-threatening danger time and again. These riveting stories, told with humor and candor, are a portal to another time, and are a testament to the spirited independence of risk-takers, a few of whom still exist in what we think of as the modern age.

AUTHOR BIO
W.C. Jameson is the award-winning author of 70 books, 1500 articles and essays, 300 songs, and dozens of poems. He is the best selling treasure author in the United States and his prominence as a professional fortune hunter had led to stints as a consultant for the Unsolved Mysteries television show and the Travel Channel. He served as an advisor for the film, National Treasure starring Nicolas Cage and appears in an interview on the DVD. Jameson has written the sound tracks for two PBS documentaries and one feature film. His music has been heard on NPR and he wrote and performed in the musical, “Whatever Happened to the Outlaw, Jesse James?” Jameson has acted in five films and has been interviewed on The History Channel, The Travel Channel, PBS, and Nightline. I just had to post this, I'm sure you will all get a kick out of it. This was written by Doug Lucas one of the authors we work with often. I think he either has supreme faith in Great Minds or just enjoys working with us quite a bit! Lol Happy Thanksgiving all I hope you enjoy the following short action scene!

"GREAT MINDS TO THE RESCUE" BY DOUG LUCAS

In the eleventh hour, when there seemed to be no chance of survival and the embattled Marine was about to be overcome by massive hordes of blood thirsty angry men bent on his destruction, he remembered the one weapon in his ever dwindling arsenal that might change the course of the battle and history.

At best it would be an act of desperation, even more dangerous than calling in another air strike and artillery on his own pause, which he'd already done---twice, but now it was his only hope at surviving. He picked up his com and to make the call.

His voice was raspy, he could barely hold the handset because of his shaking hands and fear induced sweat kept rolling into his blood shot eyes making them burn. He hesitated----would they come? They were his only chance and if they didn't get here quickly all was lost. He made the call, once again uttered the phrase every infantry mans most dreads, "It's my pause, my call, everything." He'd played one more desperate card in the attempt to remain alive and not be defeated.

Minutes later the sky began to fill with "camo chutes", they came out of the aircraft firring their weapons and raining death from above. Within seconds the dark moon less sky looked like a mushroom patch that spit tracers, rockets and filled the night with the screams of the dying enemy.

The Minions of the First Brigade of the Great Minds Think Aloud Division had all volunteered to come to his rescue. He would live to fight another day, but there was some guilt attached to that joy.

As he surveyed the death and total destruction about him, he tried to justify it with the thought, "The bastards gave me no choice, they're lucky Kitty didn't come herself.

"LITERARY STUFFINGS" THANKSGIVING INTERVIEW SERIES WITH AUTHOR, JOSEPH BEEKMAN ("LITTLE ORPHAN ANVIL")

Thank you again for donating a book for the "Literary Stuffings" giveaway. Can you tell us more about the book you donated?

My pleasure! Yes, the book, “LITTLE ORPHAN ANVIL”, is a fantasy/adventure based story. It tells the tale of an orphaned robot who, after being lost to a wicked storm cast from the dark magic of an evil witch, is found and sets out with its reunited creator and a few pals to save an orphanage from the dark shadowed spell of the witch. It’s sort of a whimsical, fun, yet, dark and spooky tale that shines a light of hope weaved
within it. So far, it has been getting great reviews, including quite a few 5 star reviews! Of course, very happy with that! Initially it was self-published, but eventually was picked up and is now published with World Castle Publishing.

This time of year is usually a warm and happy time with friends and family, how do you usually spend Thanksgiving every year?

I spend it with my family. Two older brothers, a younger sister, my parents, and my niece and nephew, who are a lot of fun to be around! So, it’s kinda laid back, watch football and eat and just catch up a bit. ☺

Can you remember one of your most happiest Thanksgivings?

Well, probably would be when I was little…most of those were great…my grandparents were still around, so it was pretty neat and I do miss them.

What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

Sleeping. ☺ Actually, relaxing and just hanging out with family. But the time off work is nice and too just sleep a bit more is great! ☺

Some families have traditions they do every year, does your family have a tradition that goes along with Thanksgiving?

No, just keep it simple and eat and hang out. Nothing electric ☺

Food is always one of the biggest things about this time of year, do you have a favorite desert or even a recipe you'd like to share with us?

No recipes. But, my fav food would have to be blueberry pie and also, the stuffing and cherry pie, too! ☺

There are so many ways to cook a turkey, does your family have a special way of getting the big bird ready, perhaps a special ingredient or stuffing?

Have to keep that one secret and safe ☺

After eating all that food and settling in for the evening what do you do with the time that's left before bed?

Get back to some reading and writing and a good old fashioned movie is always great!

Is there any other information you'd care to share with us about your books that are out now or any upcoming novels?

Well, the two books are generating pretty good buzz, and I’m busy writing a sci fi horror novel as well as the sequel to Little Orphan Anvil. And, wanted to just say thank you for the time and opportunity to share with you all, and very thankful to be able to “GET” to write and read and share my stories with the world
and those less fortunate. So, thank you, and to everyone: Happy Holidays ☺ Joseph.

Book Title: "Devil's Hand (Drawing Thin)"
Author: M.E. Patterson
Published By: Digimonkey Studios

Raven Rating: 5

Review: Usually when one thinks of Las Vegas the phrase, 'city of sin' comes to mind. But after reading this book by M.E. Patterson it is easy to see how that phrase doesn't cut it. In this phenomenal piece of work Matt Patterson has turned Las Vegas into hell itself. When Trent Hawkins and his wife Susan return to the 'city of sin' they find themselves the guardians of a young girl named Celia with mysterious powers. What's worse is the demon that's after her and willing to take out anyone that gets in his way. In the guise of an old man named Salvatore he chases Trent and his wife through the streets and sewers of Las Vegas with only one goal in mind, making Celia his once and for all.

As I began to read this book I had to wonder how Trent and Susan could make sense out of the wacky weather they run into just a few miles outside of town. Though when you take into consideration Trent Hawkins' strange streak of good luck, you can somewhat understand. The man somehow survived a plane crash that took out all other passengers on board with him. He has always had the ability to win every game he ever played in any of the casinos in town, hence the reason he was banned from the state, and later in the story he somehow dodges bullets without even moving a muscle. By the time you get into the thick of the story you realize it seems that Trent's luck is running out and he must choose his path... whether to fight the war against darkness to win, or allow the entire world to fall into darkness.

This story literally had me on the edge of my seat, at times I felt as though I were watching a movie instead of reading a book. Matt Patterson has the ability to turn phrase in a like manner with some of the best horror masters around, such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and John Connolly. I highly recommend this book and I'll be looking for more to come from this up and coming new master of horror fiction. Bring it on Matt! I'm ready for more!

"LITERARY STUFFING" THANKSGIVING INTERVIEW SERIES WITH AUTHOR, STEPHAN LABOSSIERE

Thank you again for donating a book for the "Literary Stuffings" giveaway. Can you tell us more about the book you donated?

My book is about closing the communication gap between men and women, and therefore helping both sides have more satisfying and fulfilling relationships in and outside the bedroom. A lot of women do not want to have to tell their partners what it is they need to do; they feel you should have figured it out by now or just know. Unfortunately, men are still left in the dark about some of the real reasons they aren’t getting the amount of sex they desire. This book will help in eliminating this issue.

This time of year is usually a warm and happy time with friends and family, how do you usually spend Thanksgiving every year?

I usually do just that and spend time with family and friends. We usually all go to my mothers house and have a very nice day.

Can you remember one of your most happiest Thanksgivings?

Umm I really can't think of one. I have enjoyed them all, and just happy that I have been so blessed to have those moments.

What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

My favorite thing is the spirit of Thanksgiving. This is a time where people are more concious of being thankful for what they have been blessed with and that is a beautiful thing. Also it is a time where people are giving to others and I wish we could carry that spirit year round.

Some families have traditions they do every year, does your family have a tradition that goes along with Thanksgiving?

I believe one is the way they prepare the turkey which im not 100% certain what it is they do lol. I hate cooking, so I am nowhere near the kitchen to find out.

Food is always one of the biggest things about this time of year, do you have a favorite desert or even a recipe you'd like to share with us?

I love chocolate! so if it has chocolate it has a good chance of being my favorite lol.

There are so many ways to cook a turkey, does your family have a special way of getting the big bird ready, perhaps a special ingredient or stuffing?

See question #5 lol. They do, but I don't entertain any duties that involve cooking on Thanksgiving. I am either helping with setting up tables or simply watching some good ole Thanksgiving Football : ).

After eating all that food and settling in for the evening what do you do with the time that's left before bed?

Continue to watch football lol. I also will catch up with family and friends. We may enter into a discussion about something which I always enjoy.

Is there any other information you'd care to share with us about your books that are out now or any upcoming novels?

Well you can find my book here on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Married-Woman-You-....20949739&sr=8-2

as well as on other sites. I am working on some upcoming books that I know will be very well received just as my current book has. You can always find me on www.StephanL.com for more information. Thank you.

Book Title: "A Death on the Wolf"
Author: G.M. Frazier
Published By: Self-Published

Reviewed By: Kitty Bullard (Great Minds Think Aloud Literary Community)
Raven Rating: 5

Review: "A Death on the Wolf" by G.M. Frazier is perhaps one of the most endearing coming of age stories I have ever read. I have always enjoyed reading books set in the late sixties early seventies and this one has the feel of a small town summer interlude, where everything is nostalgia and the air is palpable with magic and wonder. Taking place in Louisiana in the height of summer, the story is of a young boy named Nelson Gody, the family he loves more than life itself and the joy of having a father that knew what it was to be a true role model to his children.

There are spiritual elements that give you the ability to see into a religion that many have never endeavored into before. It seems the area is a largely Masonic community, with wholesome values. They have realized that family is the most important thing in life and protecting that is something that just comes natural. There are elements of suspense that keep you guessing as to what will happen next, a first love, a struggle with identity, and of course a death... on the Wolf.

I loved this story, this is one I could easily read again and again, as always G.M. Frazier writes with knowledge, intelligence, and pours his emotion into his characters so you do not merely read what they are feeling but feel it with them. I highly recommend this book and hope you'll seek out a copy!

"LITERARY STUFFING" THANKSGIVING INTERVIEW SERIES WITH AUTHOR, MAGNOLIA BELLE
Thank you again for donating a book for the "Literary Stuffings" giveaway. Can you tell us more about the book you donated?

I donated two books. The first, "Tascosa," is set in what is now a ghost town in north Texas. It tells of a young woman who moves west alone and how she deals with life in the rough, lawless town.

The second book, "T'on Ma," is the first in a 3-novel series set in north Texas and southern Oklahoma. It deals with the Kiowa and the homesteaders beginning in 1850 and ending in 1871. One homesteader family, the Coopers, have a daughter, Lana, who falls in love with a Kiowa warrior but, from family pressures, marries an Army lieutenant. That decision costs them all.

This time of year is usually a warm and happy time with friends and family, how do you usually spend Thanksgiving every year?

We invite folks to our home for the weekend.

Can you remember one of your most happiest Thanksgivings?

Most memorable... I'd just gotten engaged and wanted my fiancé to meet my grandparents. My grandmother had just broken her arm, so I got to fix the Thanksgiving feast all by myself. Whew!

What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

The company.

Some families have traditions they do every year, does your family have a tradition that goes along with Thanksgiving?

We make a pact NOT to go shopping the next day.

Food is always one of the biggest things about this time of year, do you have a favorite desert or even a recipe you'd like to share with us?

Few ingredients, but an elegant cookie for the holidays.

Sand Tarts

1 c. butter at room temperature, ¾ c. powdered sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla, 2 c. sifted flour, 1 c. finely chopped pecans

Cream butter, add sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour, one cup at a time. (Be careful. Too much flour will ruin these.) Stir in pecans. Form small rolls 1½” long and shape into half moon. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 300°F for 20 minutes. While still hot, roll in powdered sugar. Makes 3 dozen.

Note: These can be made ahead and frozen.

There are so many ways to cook a turkey, does your family have a special way of getting the big bird ready, perhaps a special ingredient or stuffing?

My husband always smokes a turkey. It is sooo delicious and juicy. When he brings it in, the house instantly smells wonderful!

After eating all that food and settling in for the evening what do you do with the time that's left before bed?

We either play board games or watch movies.

Is there any other information you'd care to share with us about your books that are out now or any upcoming novels?

I have an upcoming novel that I'm finishing. "Lady Gwendolyn" is set in 11th century England and Scotland and tells of a maid to Lady Gwendolyn who takes her identity in order to save her life.
